Opinion - StatesmanJournal.com: "News media ignore men, ideas behind Bush

The American people have been hearing plenty this election season about Bush and Kerry. Strangely, there is little discussion of the men who work behind the scenes in the Bush administration.

Prior to Bush taking office, current White House insiders Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Peter Rodman, Richard Armitage, John Bolton, Elliot Abrams, James Woolsey and Lewis Libby formed an organization called “A Project for a New American Century (PNAC),” and one can read their agenda on their Web site (www.newamericancentury.org).

PNAC calls for our military control on the Mideast oil so we can manipulate and dominate the economies of the industrialized world. In their document, “Rebuilding America’s Defenses,” they stated that a “new Pearl Harbor” could justify swift military action and an overthrow of Iraq, regardless as to whether Saddam was in charge or not. The men currently advising Bush asked for the development of new nuclear and space weaponry, gene-specific bioweapons (“a politically useful tool,” they say), and control of cyberspace.

Our brave soldiers who survived World War II know what a bid for global dominance looks like. What’s more troubling than having Cheney and his crew influencing foreign policy is that the mainstream news media remain silent on PNAC."
